The history of the Monti company began in 1996, when Paolo Monti from Turin, a wine enthusiast and intent on starting a career as a winemaker, visiting the various areas of Barolo, realized that Monforte was the place that could give him the most opportunities to undertake this new activity.
In 1996 he acquired an estate in the town of San Sebastiano, south of Manforte d'Alba, which responded to his ideals of the company to be established, together with his friend, the winemaker Roberto Gerbino, they decided to buy 10 French barriques and start making wine.
Today the company manages 18 hectares divided between native vines and some international experimentation
