It was February 1995 when Alan Manely, a passionate wine connoisseur who grew up between Westchester and Colorado, visited the Langhe for the first time. As often happens, it was love at first sight. Alan has lived here since 2011 and in those years he spent each harvest with a different Langhe producer, studying their interpretations, vineyard management, terroir and winemaking. He collected the names of important masters during his summer-autumn stays and began using the traditional blending method for his Barolo: the grapes from Monforte, Serralunga d’Alba and Castiglione Falletto fermented together, in contact with the skins, for 45 days. This is how Margherita Otto was born - her mother’s name, her father’s surname - a brand to tell the story of elegant, precise wines, with structure and determination like those she saw her masters make.
