Two very young winemakers and a village in the Langhe, Vergne, which was recently divided between the municipalities of Barolo, La Morra and Narzole. This is where the project of the Vaira Aurelj Winery begins – a small wine-producing estate founded by Francesco and Giacomo Vaira, brothers united by a passion for working in the vineyard and a desire to carry on their father’s legacy, honouring his memory more than twenty years after his passing.
After gaining work experience at some of the region’s leading wineries, the Vaira brothers launched their own venture in the Nebbiolo, Barbera and Dolcetto vineyards, which they have been cultivating for the past 10 years. A few small plots of land facing south-east and south-west at the same altitude (450 metres above sea level) but spread across three municipalities, of which only the ‘Fossati’ Cru and the ‘Vigna del Pensiero’ are eligible to produce DOCG wines.
