The Le Piane winery, located in the Monte Fenera Natural Park, in the province of Novara, is one of the oenological reference points of northern Piedmont. His activity was fundamental in the valorisation of a small denomination of excellence, that of Boca.

It was founded in 1998 by the Swiss Christoph Kunzli, importer, and Alexandr Trolf, who passed away maturely in the same year. In love with this uncontaminated corner of Piedmont, the two friends purchased the Campo alle Piane vineyard from Antonio Cerri, one of the last producers in the area, who was 80 years old at the time.

The soil of volcanic origin, mostly gravelly, and the pre-Alpine climate are fundamental elements in the definition of the wines produced. In the vineyard only copper and sulfur are used, with organic pesticides such as algae and mycorrhizae, while in the cellar the fermentations are spontaneous, thanks to the action of indigenous yeasts.

The most famous Le Piane wine is undoubtedly Boca, the flagship of the winery and an oenological monument of northern Piedmont, the subject of numerous awards from the public and international critics.

Christoph's activity, a true heir of the ancient practices of the local farmers, has restored dignity and vigor to a territory and a wine that risked being forgotten due to the depopulation of the countryside. Thanks to Christoph today Boca enjoys a legendary reputation.
